SKU: LL-LL37 Category:

Description

Overview

LL-37 is the only human cathelicidin-derived host-defense peptide, a 37-amino-acid cationic peptide released from the C-terminal domain of the hCAP-18 precursor protein (the CAMP gene product). Its name reflects its two N-terminal leucine residues and its 37-residue length. In preclinical research it has been studied as an amphipathic, alpha-helical peptide with roles in host defense, immune modulation, wound repair, and angiogenesis. It is also referred to in the literature as CAP-18 or hCAP-18/LL-37.

Structure & Chemistry

  • Molecular formula: C₂₀₅H₃₄₀N₆₀O₅₃
  • Molecular weight: 4493 g/mol
  • Class: 37-residue cationic, amphipathic alpha-helical peptide (cathelicidin family)
  • Sequence: LLGDFFRKSKEKIGKEFKRIVQRIKDFLRNLVPRTES
